New Qualifications for New Jobs
The EU is moving in the direction of a Green Economy – what qualifications and skills do employees and those looking for jobs in an increasingly green, low-carbon business environment need?
The European Commission is currently working on a European classification of skills, competencies and jobs (European Skills Competences and Occupations, ESCO). This commission will describe the most important competencies and qualifications for a number of jobs and be available in all EU languages. Institutions in the employment market and educational sector will be able to use ESCO. ESCO is part of Europa 2020 – a strategy for intelligent, sustainable and integrative growth.
From the perspective of Green Jobs, ESCO offers an opportunity to prepare (and develop) jobs for a Green Economy.
